报告人简介:
Michael J. Sailor is Distinguished Professor at the University of California, San Diego. He has supervised more than 150 undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students, he is the author of more than 230 research publications, one book, and 29 patents. He founded three companies and has served on the scientific advisory boards of six others. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
报告简介:
The Sailor Lab has been at the forefront of porous silicon technologies for over 20 years. They have researched porous silicon for applications including: photoluminescence, drug loading, chemical sensing, batteries, and biomaterials. The surface modification is an important way the improve the properties of porous silica. Professor Sailor will give a lecture on specific chemistries including calcium silicate and magnesium silicate localized precipitation; dehydrocoupling; and heterocyclic silane ring-opening "click" reactions. The chemistries will be quantified based on surface charge, surface hydrophilicity, surface affinity for opsonizing proteins, and surface lipophilicity.
